What would make a whole nation climb out of bed in the early hours of the morning? Sport, and soccer in particular. It was amazing to see the lights on in houses all around at that hour of night when most are out and the household sleeping. Even people who do not normally understand or watch soccer rose from their beds this morning to watch a match between underdogs Australia (the socceroos), and the Italian team. Sadly, just before the final siren, with further time pending, a penalty was awarded to an Italian player right in front of goal, and the hearty kick yielded the magic goal that swept the Italian team into the next round.

A disappointed team of Australians saw their dream crash and burn in an instant. A whole nation was behind supporting and encourging them - a whole nattion is suffering the ill effects of lack of sleep, and disappointment - but thrilled with the wonderful perfomance of a team that went beyond expectations in the World Soccer.
