The Rings

What a strange day we have had. MM has had two knees replaced - and came home from hospital 6 days later. Walking too!!! I had to have a medical investigative procedure, and we thought we had it all organised as I could not drive. MM was to stay home, and my daughter was to drive me to and from hospital. The first need to change the plans came with a phone call - someone else had cancelled and they wanted me in earlier. So favorite son in law was able to get me there earlier.

The night before though, the swelling MM's legs increased and he phoned his doctor. A few instructions including advice to phone in the morning.

I went early to hospital, while our daughter went to have her hair cut and coloured, and MM was given instructions to get to the doctor. Because I had gone earlier, I was finished earlier so dear daghter had to come and pick me up, and then as I could not drive (had had a general anaesthetic) dear daughter ferried her father to the hospital. In the end that task (including waiting time and bringing him home took around 5 hours.)

To complicate matters our granddaughter was sick (with a sore throat) so I looked after her in the afternoon while her mother took MM to the hospital.

Granddaughter and I (still feeling a little "seedy") had to amuse each other. We watched a DVD, and chatted, and she did some drawing. But I knew what would thrill her. To play with my rings. I have a small collection of costume jewelry - and she loves playing with the rings.

I watched as she traced around her hand, and then cut out the paper hand and put the rings on the four fingers.

Worth a photo? You bet!

Sometimes -

when it rains, it pours. That sure was a complicated day. Fortunately you had enough family around to handle everything. It is those days that make us appreciate the quiet and calm ones, ever so much.

We do appreciate family

a lot more in times like this. My daughter commented that she was not the "sick" one but over two days was in three hospitals. She was there for us on Tuesday and we were there for her on Wednesday.

Thanks Hutts

but we've had a few dramas. MM was having trouble with swelling and I was having my procedure (all clear, thankfully) so our daughter was running from one hospital to the other. Then this morning we had a phone call from her - her MM was having chest pains. So I rushed over and she called the ambulance. Two ambulances later and he was taken to hospital. We are still waiting to hear - but it seems it might be a muscular thing. Fingers crossed. Our daughter has seen enough of hospitals in the last couple of days.

Hope you both are well...

I had that minor knee job a few months back. Just about healed. Took a while to get rid of all the swelling. I'm no chicken. Two knee replacements - that was a big job! Its amazing what can be done now.

Thanks Jellen

but I wonder if that is why your posts with photos go off my page. I'll try it with mine - but on my screen with my photos it all fits on one page. Strange.
