What am amazing ceremony! I love watching these events, and I'm sure we weren't disappointed - those who watched the opening cermony of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games last night.

Those amazing drummers in the first section - how wonderful! So much wonderful history woven into the performances which included modern dancing too!

I did doze off a few times - as it was quite late here - but I did record it so that I can catch up later on.

The Chinese set out to impress and did so - in a remarkable ceremony that will be imprinted on the memory of all who were there and all who saw it live - especially those who were lucky enough to see it on a BIG screen.

I know there are a lot of things that we in the west do not like about China and the way it runs it's country - but there is no other country that has to manage 1.3 billion people - and it is so remarkable how they have changed in the last 30 years.

I do hoep the Games are tremendously successful, and all involved are safe!

Let the Games begin.
