The problem was three players with black undies beneath white shorts. Is this just a fashion faux pas? No, it was a violation of the Olympic dress code. Under Olympic field hockey rules shorts and undies must match.

Although officials anted to suspend the players involved, coach Kevin Marr took the hit. He had to watch the must-win match from the grandstand. That is a unique punishment.
