I have enjoyed most of my house sitting experiences. The reason I started house sitting was to get away from home - yes, run away I guess. Somewhere where no one knew me, no one could phone me - I seldom answered my mobile phone, and never gave ANYONE the landline number.

It is great to see such a wonderful community here at Blogevolve, but from time to time unwelcome sploggers post here.

We've had "attacks" in the last week - and they are now gone. I now know that there is a facility in place to deal with these folk, and ask that anyone who notices any splog or unwanted material, just add a comment "sploggers not welcome here" and I have it on good authority that the splog will be disposed of.

How can I tell this story? What shall I call it? A Bird landed on my head? A bird on the head is worth....? Oh, what the heck! I'll tell the story just as it happened.

Late this afternoon I was about to walk up the back stairs when something with claws landed on my head! This is magpie swooping time, when many magpies are nesting and as they do at this time, swoop down and try and peck humans as they walk past.

Let's not forget that on September 6th, in Beijing, another group of athletes are set to strut their stuff for the countries. This is a wonderful exhibition of sporting activities by men and women who have overcome extraordinary odds to do their sport.

The sad news today that a vetinarian from Queensland has died after contracting the rare horse virus "Hendra Virus" which has now claimed the lives of three men. The virus came to light a few years ago, where a number of horses at the Brisbane suburb of Hendra, after which the virus was named, became infected with the virus.

Mt Isa, in Quensland Australia is a dusty, hot, dirty mining city. The area around Mt Isa is rich with mineral deposits, and much of the economy of the area comes from the huge mines in the area.

A fascinating story is unfolding just north of the great city of Sydney. At this time of year whales migrate from the South Pole area all the way up the coast of Australia to the warmer waters closer to the Equator.

While in China my husband bought me a new ring - a white gold ring with two stones called Lavender Chalcedony. I tend to wear lots of purple coloured clothes, so it works well for me. I'm having trouble taking a photo of it - so will keep trying, but it has two square stones with three small diamonds between them.
