2008 Summer Olympics

Michael Phelps the United States champion swimmer had a wonderful Olympic games wining 8 gold medals. While the United States track and field team which normally dominates had a disappointing Olympic games.

Living in the North I personally like the Winter Olympic Games. Skiing, skating, hockey those are the sports that I grew up with. However I really did enjoyed the Summer Olympics this time. I guess all we can do now is wait until 1212 when the Summer Olympic games goes to London England.

Anyway thanks for reading.

Young Phelps is publishing...

a book about his "long" life which includes a battle with ADHD, which he has obviously overcome.

You are right about Phelps, but Usain Bolt was also very exciting!

Phelps was a marvel...

and has a huge wingspan. We probably won't see his like for a few generations.Sadly things will go back to normal in China. We have learned that they have the ability to organise world class events.Human rights will not improve, I believe. There will be a lot of things to come out about the sacrifices made by the ordinary folk in the lead up to the games. The two elderly grandmothers whose homes were demolished and demonstrated against it - they are under house arrest.

They were a great Olympic Games

and the world has learned so much more about China. I believe it will be good long-term for the Chinese people. They have been "exposed" to so much more information abut the West.
